With the arrival of a New Year the Projects Committee has posted the 2017 Restoration Project Plan & Schedule. There is a large assortment of projects in seven scheduled sessions plus special sessions and don’t forget the Colorado Springs work site with a year-round opportunity to work on Project 1115.
The Friends need your help this year to accomplish several unique projects that are needed for a special scheduled charter after the 37th National Narrow Gauge Convention being held in Denver August 30th through September 2nd. Start planning now to attend one or all of the work sessions; most projects are located in Antonito and Chama and there are a few located along the rail line. Many of us are wearing out and so are the rail cars; so please encourage the younger generation along with your friends of all ages to join us in these endeavors. We need YOU, the members, to help in accomplishing our restoration goals. Bookmark this link: http://fctsfido.org/FIDO/proj_sched.php?public to get direct access to the most up to date projects schedule any time of the day. Early in the season schedules do change so check back often.
Find the project that interests you and become a part of an award winning restoration organization. With it comes tremendous comradery; many say it was the railroad that brought them to volunteer but it’s the people that keep them coming back. Feel the warmth of volunteering to preserve a national landmark; it’s doing something that counts!
Registration for project attendees opens February 1, 2017. Make your plans now to attend and while you are there take a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec. Work session attendees are offered a 25% discount on coach seats or become a Team Leader and earn free trips; see Form R-1 for details.
